Style Error: vox-sanguinis

Vox Sanguinis has recently changed its reference style and now on the author instruction page explicitly recommends NOT to use Zotero because of the outdated style. I really think this is a shame because I think it should be easy (and worthwhile) to change this style in the zotero reporistory. Just don't know how to do it... (I tried though)
Any one willing to help?
  • That's really dumb — the CSL styles used in Zotero are used in literally dozens of tools that almost certainly make up a large majority of citation manager usage, so it's bizarre and nonsensical for them to recommend using reference management software but say not to use Zotero or Mendeley instead of actually working with us to produce a proper CSL style.

In any case, the Vox Sanguinis CSL style is just a dependent style pointing to "Vancouver (Brackets)". If that's not correct for their current guidelines, see Requesting a New Style for the info that would be needed to create an updated style.

  • Hi, thanks for your response. I can only totally agree with how dumb it is to put such a such a recommendation on their website... Hence my efforts of looking into creating an update for the current style in the Zotero library. I will request put forward the request for a style update.
  • You can tell them, but that wasn't really the point — it'd likely be people here actually working on the style. We just need someone to follow the steps I linked to above. If you want the style created, you can do it.
  • I will follow-up on it. I've also contacted the journal to let them know that I will try and organize a general update on the Zotero site. I've fixed the formatting for my current paper, but that doesn't help any other author (nor stimulate the use of Zotero)... But thanks for helping out ;-)

Very sad to read that they would make such a statement rather than taking the 5min it takes to write to the CSL team and get a fix up.

I have just proposed an update to the style to match the guidelines.

Give it a test run: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/citation-style-language/styles/eb1d9c5b50cf58a83c636a9ec3964f5f5d3dd0c6/vox-sanguinis.csl

I'll let you know when the style is merged and available through the repository and then we can write the journal to update their guidelines.
  • Thanks for this super fast response damnation!
As there are a maximum of six authors allowed in any reference I think the et-al code should look like:
    et-al-min="7" et-al-use-first="6"

    Style now available: https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=id:vox-sanguinis

    I'll write to the editors.
