Google Docs Safari Extension not working

Greetings - I installed the Zotero extension for Safari and then started Zotero on my Mac. When I open a google doc I can see the Zotero menu item but when I click on it the menu does not open. I suppose it needs some permissions etc. Any idea what to do?

MacOS 12.3.1
Safari 15.4
Zotero 6.0.7

Can you provide a Debug ID from the Zotero Connector for reloading Google Docs and clicking on the Zotero menu in Google Docs?

You should also try with any other browser extensions disabled.

I disabled the other extensions I had installed but still no joy. I noticed that the red 'Z' icon will appear only for a moment in the toolbar and then disappear. the documentation says right click anywhere on a web page to open the Zotero preferences but I don't get this option.

In google docs I do get the menu item but no menu options. Sometime up to three identical Zotero menu items appear but sometimes none.
