Error while

I've been using zotero with linked files for a few years and things have been great! I now realize that the best way to use the new ipad app is to get zotero storage. So I upgraded storage and began to convert the linked files to stored files. Midway through I recieved an error. Report ID: 1591508072. Any thoughts on how to fix this? I think only about 70% of the files have moved so far.
  • [JavaScript Error: "Error for operation 'open' for C:\Users\[…]\Zotero\storage\E7DMJ5EW\Papers: Win error 5 during operation open on file C:\Users\[…]\Zotero\storage\E7DMJ5EW\Papers (Access is denied.
Check that folder. What is "Papers"? Is that a folder (which shouldn't be there)? Something else?
  • This was the name of my original folder that contained the pdfs and was stored on onedrive. It looks like it has been copied over to the Zotero directory. Is this expected behavior? At the moment, about 20% of my pdf's are still in the "papers/" folder. I assume the rest have been incorporated into various directories into the zotero system?

That's something you did wrong — that absolutely shouldn't be there. You should move it out of there, and if that's where your Linked Attachment Base Directory is set to, you should update that to point to the new location from the Advanced → Files and Folders pane of the Zotero preferences. (Current versions of Zotero won't let you set a Linked Attachment Base Directory within the data directory to avoid a mistake like this.)
  • I moved the "Papers/" folder elsewhere and the error went away. My linked attachment base directory still points to the onedrive location - so all good there. Now I have 100's of broken file links and I'd rather not do this manually. Do I reset the base directory to where I moved the "Papers/" folder and try again?
  • It's hard to say exactly what you did, but sure, you can try that.

If you can't figure out why a file isn't opening after changing that setting, you can provide a Debug ID for trying to open a file.
