My bibliography went missing from my Word doc?

Hello,

As the title said, my paper references disappeared. The in-text citations are still there, but I'm not sure what to do about the missing references. There were a lot of them, but I'm running the most updated Zotero & MSWord available for Mac.

It's a mystery. I've restarted both programs and tried refreshing it from Word, and now it looks like my citations have been delinked. When I mouse over them, they don't highlight. However, when I got to insert them with add/edit citations, they're there??

Can anyone offer any insight?
  • See this article on possible sources why this happened: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/existing_citations_not_detected
  • Thank you, but I've already tried that one. I'm not sure what's going on. I've not done any of those things as far as I know, since I'm the only one who has used it and am writing only on this one machine. I have saved a backup copy to an external drive long before I noticed they'd disappeared, and it doesn't have them either.

If you know of any other answer pages, I'd be happy to look at them. I've either found all of them or am not great at searching them out on this site.
  • Update: I just clicked on "add/edit bibliography" and it reappeared??

Is that what happened? Clicking that button makes it appear/reappear??

I was going to write that at first, but you seemed like you had lost your active citations.
Yes, that's what that button is for. ;)
  • Oh, dang. Whew.

Thank you so much for your time!! I'm clearly new at this and was getting ready to panic in an hour or so. :D
