Installation not possible / Windows defender

It seems as if windows defender does not allow to instal zotero to the computer.

i should contact the provider to deliver a functioning version.
??? does someone knows what is here the problem and how to solve it?

    That's not something anyone else has reported.

    What exact version of Windows, and what's the full error you're receiving?

    windows 11,
    error 1: microsoft defender smartscreen stopted start on unnown application. high risk for pc. zotero-6.0.5_setup(6).exe, unknown provider.

    followed by - contact sw provider to get suitable version. this app can not be proceeded at your computer.

    Assuming you downloaded that file from the download page, there's something wrong with your computer. Zotero should show up as signed by the Corporation for Digital Scholarship.

    totally strange.
    also when i use vpn via institution... i'm using institution/school licence of windows, they also recomend zotero to students

    any idea about the microsoft/windows defender?

    You'll need to ask your IT department for help. There's no problem with the Zotero installer.

    problem solved - zotero sw installation was not possible as long zotero app was not on the list of allowed apps within windows defender....

    Just to be clear, that would only be the case if you or your institution have changed the computer's settings to allow only specific apps to run. Again, the official Zotero installer is signed and runs on all Windows systems with default security settings.
