It delighted me when I see Zotero at length supports embedded PDF viewer and allows us to annotate the PDF with highlighting tool, sticky notes and area selection.
However, it is a pity that notes made in this way are not searchable in the library search bar like item notes do. There are occasions where we remember only the content of the sticky notes we made within a PDF but forget the title and tags of a article and would like to recall them with just content of the sticky notes.
Currently I still have to manually check the articles one by one to see if that desired sticky note is there, or make a copy of the content into a new item note in order that the content can be searchable. These notes made on top of the PDF can replace those Item Notes which are supposed to be made when we want to see just the key sentences or make modifications to the original narration. They deserve being searchable in the library like item notes do.
It will be a great improvement since it is more humanistic for those traditional PDF readers who would like to opt into an automatic research paper manager. This is the feature we yearn for now.
