Zotero won't let me select a new citation style

I am able to click on the citation style but no 'ok' box shows up to click on so the selection is never saved. I have tried deleting Zotero and redownloading and I'm not sure what to do, I have the latest version but there is no error showing, and the application is up to date. I have a 2019 MacBook. Has anyone else had this issue or know how I could possibly fix it?

    Where exactly are you trying to select a style? The style manager in the Cite pane of the preferences is just for adding/removing styles — you don't select styles there. You select them 1) in the Document Preferences dialog in the word processor plugins, 2) in the Create Bibliography from Items dialog, or 3) in the Quick Copy settings in the Export pane of the preferences.

    I was trying to select them in the cite portion of the preferences
