Installation Zotero 6 under Win 8.1 >> no language file selection for spell checking possible...
Hello Zotero- Community,
I got to know and love the zotero software a few days ago. A very powerful and practical tool. I was able to install the software on two machines without any problems. Once under the operating system Windows 10 and once under the operating system Windows 8.1. Under Win 10, the software works perfectly. You can change the spell checker to all language files in 30 languages as you like. Unfortunately, this does not work with the machines with the Win 8.1. Although it is possible to activate and deactivate spell checking in the context menu, not a single language is displayed in the window in which you can select the language. By default, the English language file is active, I would like to change it to the German file.
The path may not be recognized or management may be different in Win 8.1 than in Win 10. If anyone knows this phenomenon and has a proposal for a solution, I would be very grateful for that.

This is the sequence when the language in the window is to be changed. That's all that happens.
Thank you very much for the help.
2152398878 means NS_ERROR_UNKNOWN_HOST, meaning something is preventing Zotero from doing domain name lookups. I'd guess that no network requests are working at all. See Connection Error.
You are right. The PC does not have a network card and is only used to manage and archive text documents. Is there a way to install the German spell checker file offline? Or install an update. Best regards,
1) Find the dictionary you want from https://download.zotero.org/dictionaries/dictionaries.json
2) Build the download URL from
'https://download.zotero.org/dictionaries/'+id+'-'+version+'.xpi'and download the file. E.g., https://download.zotero.org/dictionaries/de-DE@dictionaries.addons.mozilla.org-2.0.6.1webext.xpi is the current de-DE dictionary.3) Unzip it to a
dictionariessubfolder of your Zotero profile directory, with the folder name matching theid.4) Restart Zotero.
Relevant code is here.
Thank you very much for the perfect advice.
It all worked very well after your direction.
Maybe there are more people who have the problem,
whom we could help with it.
