Pdf Viewer V. 6

Hi

How do I disable the PDF viewer in v.6?
I want to open all files like I used to in my personal pdf viewer.
In part because I like to use the read aloud function in my pdf viewer and also because some files I open are unreadable in Zoteros viewer.

I there a function or choice to turn this off, or can I download an old version of Zotero somewhere?

  • Go to Zotero's Preferences -> General -> Open PDFs using System Default or a Custom app.
  • some files I open are unreadable in Zoteros viewer
@rinbl64: What do you mean by that? Can you provide examples?

The built-in PDF reader works with built-in text-to-speech feature on macOS (Cmd-Shift-E). Not sure about on other OSes.

Thank you Enozkan. I had checked for a setting there, I'm sorry I overlooked it.
Dstillman I opened the pdf on the computer I'm working on now in zotero viewer and saw that it was readable. To work out what was wrong, I checked again on my laptop.
The text was doubled - two layers of the same text but slightly unaligned (sorry I wish I could attach a screen shot). But I saw that I had High Contrast View (windows setting) still turned on (was working in the sun outside today). When I turned it off, Zotero viewer worked just fine even on my laptop.
  • Can you take a screenshot, upload it somewhere (e.g., Dropbox or Google Drive), and provide a link here?
  • Try this link. You should be able to access it here.
When I have the windows high contrast setting turned on Pdf look like Eg1.png and Eg2.png. Varying in readability.

  • Oh, weird. OK, thanks — we'll see if we can do anything about that.
