Zotero was unable to load translators and styles

Report ID: 542180023

When opening Zotero standalone, I get the following error message: "Zotero was unable to load translators and styles."

I've tried restarting Zotero, resetting translators and styles, checking my database integrity, and deleting translators and styles directories in my Zotero Data Directory.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start Zotero
  • [JavaScript Error: "Unix error 2 during operation stat on file /Users/[…]/Zotero/translators/New Left Review.js (No such file or directory)" {file: "(unknown module)" line: 0}]
Are you running any sort of third-party security software on this computer? It's very unlikely that this is a problem in Zotero itself.
  • Thanks for responding. I am not running any third-party security software on my computer.
  • Can you provide a Debug ID for Zotero startup through getting the error, after closing Zotero and deleting the 'translators' directory within the data directory? (Use the Terminal method listed there.)
  • Sure thing. Here's that Report ID: 1838886209
  • That's a Report ID. See the linked instructions for providing a Debug ID for Zotero startup from the terminal.
  • Oh sorry. Is this what you need? D710186380
  • That's after deleting 'translators'?

We never recommend this, but can you try reinstalling Zotero from the download page?
  • Yes, that's after deleting translators. I tried reinstalling Zotero from the link you provided. Same problem.
  • Something on your system seems to be preventing Zotero from reading or writing that specific file. This isn't something anyone else has reported, and that file hasn't changed since last year. Try restarting your computer, and check your filesystem in Disk Utility.
  • I've restarted my computer and am getting the same error. What should I be checking about my filesystem in Disk Utility?
  • Use the First Aid function.
