The macro cant be found or has been disable

Kept getting the following error

"The macro cant be found or has been disabled of your Macro security settings"

When I moved the zotero.dotm file from the startup folder, the error didnt appear so maybe the .dotm is faulty?

I aslo tried opening the zotero.dotm but got the same error.

Macros are also enabled under the Macro settings

this happened after a windows update.

    More generally if this is an institutional computer some group policy may be blocking Zotero. If it's a personal computer then you will have to look over settings in the Word Trust Centre. Make sure the startup folder is listed under Trusted Locations.
  • I still have the error.

    Its a personal computer. I have followed the instructions from the link, unchecked the “Require Application Add-ins to be signed by Trusted Publisher” and “Disable all Application Add-ins”, and the startup folder is already listed under trusted locations.

    Dont really know what's causing it. Also, the Zotero tab is present in Word, but the Tab Name is missing. See below

    And when I try use any of Zotero's commands, the same error pops up
  • I reinstalled both Word and Zotero but to no avail.
  • Did you go into Word Trust Centre? Is the Word Startup folder listed under trusted locations?

    I'm sorry, but you'll have to figure out why templates in Word Startup folder have macros disabled. This isn't a Zotero problem, but a Word configuration one. Reinstalling things won't help, since these are configuration options that are stored even when you uninstall software. You may confirm that this is the case by creating a new User Account in Windows and checking whether the Zotero plugin works correctly there.
  • Tried creating another user account as well. The same error persists :(
  • Fixed the issues. Office files might have been corrupted so a quick online repair fixed all the problems.
  • What online repair did you use to fix this issue? I'm having a similar problem in Word 2016.
