tracking citations across word documents

Hi, I'm working on several word documents that often cite the same texts.

If my citations in these different documents are linked, is it possible for Zotero to display where these citations are located, eg the names of my word documents where I have used these citations?

I would like to know if the citation link carries information back to Zotero, and If so, what information and where can I see it.

thanks in advance!

No, Zotero doesn't save any information about this. The information is stored within the documents, then when needed will sync with the Zotero application to check for updates (e.g. if you have corrected a typo in the title of an article, etc.).

There is a way around this, though, if you don't mind doing it manually. You can use the reference extractor here:

Specifically the "Select in Zotero" option will allow you to see which items have been cited in a particular document. You can then create a collection (e.g. the title of your paper) to save those.
  • thanks for this, a great help!
