Incorrect law para/page designation when changing styles
When changing the article style from McGill (Canadian) to OSCOLA, some of the footnotes are incorrectly rendering either as Canadian style (para) or as if they were page numbers (no square brackets added), while only some of the footnotes correctly show the OSCOLA style for paragraphs of judgments. Is this perhaps a common problem that occurs when converting from one style to another? Does anyone know of an automated fix in Zotero that will enable me to fix this? (I don't want to do this manually as I might need to re-submit this article to another journal and thus change styles).
Examples of entries which converted incorrectly when the style was changed from McGill to OSCOLA:
EXAMPLE 1:
Some of the entries incorrectly continued to render as "para 27", while some of them changed to just "27" (such as ibids referring to the Lola entry as an example below) which is incorrect as these are paragraphs not pages-
Lola (n5) para 263
ibid 366
ibid 358
EXAMPLE 2:
Another example that did not work is the Miron case -
Miron (n143) para 153.
Examples of entries which did converted properly when the style was changed:
EXAMPLE 3:
On the other hand, some entries did correctly change to square brackets. For example, the Zora case -
R v Zora 2020 SCC 14 [6]
EXAMPLE 4:
The law case also worked -
Law v Canada (Minister of Employment and Immigration) [1999] 1 SCR 497 [2]
From these examples, can you possibly discern anything in terms of what information is entered in the various fields that would explain this discrepancy? I can also confirm that there is no discrepancy among the cases above in the use of the drop-down menu to select paragraph for the pinpoint (this was done in every case).
In response to your comment, we've never tried Chicago as we don't use it and the data entry is optimised for McGill and OSCOLA.
