Error while syncing - password too long? [report-id 1898767543]

While trying to sync I receive the message "incorrect username or password", although I made sure both inputs are correct. This happens for both synchronization to Zotero and WebDAV.
When setting up the synchronization process in the settings window, "verify server" works fine. Zotero could even create the folder I provided which did not exist on my WebDAV-server.
When I opened the settings window again, I noticed that my password was cut down to nine characters, although my password is longer. This might be a possible explanation for this error.
  • Update: I just reduced my Zotero password to eight characters and now synchronization seems to work fine. I guess that my assumption was right and Zotero cuts off passwords that are longer than 8 (?) chars.
  • That certainly should not be the case. Provide a Debug ID for a sync attempt that produces the error.
  • Well for some reason it works now. At first, the same error popped up after I changed my password back to a long password, but then I simply clicked a second time on "synchronize" and it worked. Sorry about that undetailed description, that's all I can say about that.
  • Today I experienced the same issue. In the Zotero Beta Linux 64 client, the menu for setting up syncing allows for only 10 characters in the password input box. I had to reduce my Zotero password to 10 characters, after which the sync was enabled.
  • @JanAntolik: No, that's absolutely false. There's no limit. It's exactly the same as any other password field that only shows placeholders — it's just a little hard to see that it's scrolling horizontally, but it is.

If you set a long password again and enter it in carefully, I assure you it will work.
