Strange symbols in bibliography: ŋŊßßþÞ
Hi,
I'm currently writing a thesis using Overleaf with a Zotero integration. Using in-text citations works perfectly and I've set up my main document to automatically "print" all the references used in the text to a sorted bibliography each time I re-compile.
Although printing the bibliography works just fine, every single entry in my bibliography is printed with the same strange symbols at eh beginning of every title: ŋŊßßþÞ. This appears for every single entry both once or several times. I.e.:
Wahlström, M. & Törnberg, A. (2021). ŋŊßßþÞSocial media mechanismsfor right-wing political violence in the 21st century: ŋŊßßþÞDiscursive opportunities, group dynamics, and co-ordination.Terrorism andPolitical Violence,33(4), 766–787.
When I try with different bib. styles it disappears. I'm currently using apa, and have to continue using this.
Can anyone tell my why this happens, but more importantly how to remove this?

Although I pay for the individual Overleaf plan, I now very rarely use it. So my comments may not be helpful. (I don't know the mechanism by which Zotero integrates with Overleaf -- for me it just "does".) I was not able to reproduce your title problem when using APA 7 or APA 8 in my test overleaf document. I downloaded the metadata for article you listed from the T&PV journal website into Zotero. I also downloaded the article from another online database in an attempt to see if there might be differences. I could detect none.
I can recommend within your Zotero desktop program refreshing your styles. That might solve the problem if every journal title is affected. [[Preferences / Advanced / General / Automatically check for updated translators and styles (Update Now).]]
Another thing to test is to start a new Overleaf document and tell this forum if the problem also exists in the new document.
Thanks for the feedback! I managed to somehow sort it out. I will make sure to ask overleaf next time.
