Drag and drop a PDF to Zotero icon on Mac OSX dock?

Zotero 5.0.76
OSX 10.13.6

I'm in the processing of migrating from Papers3 to Zotero. (Lost my patience with the dismaying neglect of Papers3 after buyout by ReadCube.) I'm lovin' Zotfile and its ability to send to and get from tablet, with high fidelity transfer of highlights and annotations. However, I do miss the ability to import PDFs by drag and drop to the Papers3 dock icon, as is functional for Preview, Adobe Reader, and PDF Expert. I understand that PDF import from a browser is best, but in some instances I have no choice, and dragging the PDF to the Zotero app window can be cumbersome when using multiple desktop views. "Store copy from file" is somewhat better but still not as easy as drag and drop to the dock icon. Does anybody know how to activate such a feature?
  • Sorry, that's planned but not currently possible.

Note that you can drag files between different spaces on macOS — e.g., on a laptop, you can click and drag, do the four-finger slide to move to another space, and drop — but it's true that it's more cumbersome than just dragging to the Dock would be.

(There are also cheap third-party utilities — Yoink is one — that give you a place to temporarily stash dragged files.)
  • Bumping this, as I am curious whether such a *gigantic* time-saving feature is soon to be implemented?

Thanks to all the devs for your work.
  • Bump again! Thanks
  • +1. This would be an extremely useful capability to add. Nearly all Mac apps allow a file to be dragged onto the dock icon. It is usually much easier to do this, vs. opening the app, finding the sidebar, and dragging there.
