Annotations cannot be extracted - Aug/2021

Hello everyone!

I was regularly extracting notes from books and articles that I've made using the built-in PDF viewer in Zotero. Yesterday I started working on some PDFs our professor has sent us and I cannot longer export my annotations. I know the standard procedure is to create a parent item and THEN manage attachments → extract annotations. This isn't working and I've tried everything, any ideas on how to fix this? These are regular lecture notes of my professor, they have no ISBN, DOI, whatsoever.

    First, you're describing ZotFile functionality, not Zotero functionality — be sure to mention that when reporting problems here.

    ZotFile annotation extraction works fine for me in the latest beta, but note that the Zotero beta can add annotations to notes itself, so it's not necessary to use ZotFile for that.

    Oh ok, thanks for the heads up, didn't really think about it.

    As I've mentioned before, it normally works just fine, but since I'm using a random PDF, not a book, and it doesn't contain any metadata, it seems I'm not able to export my notes. I see a red cross at the bottom right of my screen next to the name of the PDF. I'm unable to solve it, any ideas?

    Sorry, we can only help with Zotero, not ZotFile. You're already using the beta, so I would recommend using Zotero, not ZotFile, to add annotations to notes.
