Getting Zotero Plug-In to Be Trusted by Institutional Computer
I have successfully installed Zotero but now have a new computer controlled by our institutional IT - meaning it has extra security and receives automatic updates and installs controlled by IT. I manually installed the Zotero plug-in into Word, but everytime I open Word, it tells me the Zotero macro is not secure. I then have to accept the warning and then the Zotero plug-in appears. This does not happen for Adobe plug-in. The difference between Zotero and Adobe plug-ins is because Zotero is not a Trusted Publisher whereas Adobe is. When I ask IT what is needed to get rid of this warning and automatically enable the Zotero plug-in, they said I need to contact Zotero's engineers and specifically ask for:
"In order to add a Trusted Publisher, we would need the publisher's top-level certificate (top of chain). Otherwise, the Add-in would need to be signed itself or added from a Trusted Location in order to circumvent the security warning."
Appreciate advice on how to get Zotero accepted as a Word plug-in. Thanks!
