Style Request for my bachelor thesis - urgent

Hi everyone,

i want to add the unique citation of my university. Unfortunately I only have the citation style as an cls file. Is it now possible to get the following style into my Zotero app?

I need the following style for my source directory and for a footnote:

Gothan-Schmidt, H. (2008). Holistisches Sanierungs- und Wertmanagement.
Wiesbaden: Gabler Edition Wissenschaft.

Klug, H. (2018). Die Finanzkrise 2008 im Unbewussten. Wien: Springer.
Online, D. www.duden.de. Internetquelle heruntergeladen von
am 18. 01. 2021.

Straubhaar, T. (2021). Welt. Internetquelle heruntergeladen von
am 22. 01. 2021.

The footnote should look like this:
Vgl. Klug, 2018.

Thank you very much!
  • If you have a .csl file then you can add that to Zotero. Or what to do you mean by "CLS file"?
  • Instructions are here if you mean a CSL file:

    https://www.zotero.org/support/styles

Accomplishing the import of new CSL files is simple and easy if you follow the directions.
  • No ihm afraid, its not an "csl." file, its definitely an ".cls" file (and ".xsl", I do have both). Thats my problem.. Zotero won't support this kind of file, am I right?
  • Can you upload the contents of the file to pastebin.com and put the link here?

Allowing us to see the file is essential. A very brief snippet of the few lines at the beginning of the file if pasted to a forum message might help. Pastebin or a DropBox public file is best. Does your university describe this style in a document that is online? If so, please share the URL.

This is far outside my area of knowledge. @emilianoeheyns @adamsmith ??

You just jarred loose a memory, @Maribell97. Are you talking about a control-file for a production-grade typesetting device, book/newspaper layout 'compositor', or LaTeX markup? If so, that would, to my knowledge, be a file that provides coordinating instructions for the appearance of characters and images on the pages of an entire document not a citation style. I was sent a file in error when my thesis went to the printer and I vaguely recall that it had a cls extension.

edit- the file contained instructions like a printer driver and didn't contain human-readable content relevant to my thesis. It converted PageMaker files to a format suitable for the direct-to-press device. At the time I tried to open the file I thought it might be a flavor of xls. (I was more careless about opening strange files in the 1980s. I trusted it because it came from the printing company.)

edit2: fixed several typing errors due to using an iPad in a moving vehicle.
  • I haven't ever dealt with creating/modifying a bib(la)tex style, so I'm not of much help here.
  • https://www.dropbox.com/t/9V1AQmjA15dLYyLb I hope this works. I'm not really into all this Program stuff, I just need exactly this kind of style for my thesis.

I Hope this helps. Thank you so much in advance!

These files are .xsl style sheets that have nothing to do with .csl (citation style language). These files also have nothing to do with Zotero (the forum you're asking this question in).
These stylesheets are used with Word's OWN referencing modality (under "References"; Zotero has its own tab called "Zotero".

The zip you sent contains a guide how to install and use these files. If you have problems with installing and using these styles you'll need to ask the person/organisation that gave you these or ask on a generic Word/Office forum.

If you ARE using Zotero currently and have all your items stored in there you'd need to build your own citation style for this, using the "Citation style language" that Zotero uses.
This style will be a good base to start using and editing: https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=id:developing-world-bioethics
  • I recommend asking for help at your university library's reference help desk. If they don't want to help you with Zotero, politely seek assistance with using the MS Word tools the university provides. Surely, many students have had the same problems you are experiencing.
