Way to sort/export by a user-generated number?

I have a collection of citations but they have be listed in order of how they appear in the paper. Is there anything I can do in Zotero to add "#1", "#2" etc. to them so that when I export it's produced in that order?

    Nothing reasonably easy if your generating the bibliography directly withing Zoteor, but there are citation styles that do this for you when you're using the word processor integration. Is that not an option?

    I haven't even tried the word processor integration--sorry, first time using this! I will check that out.

    Alternatively I suppose I could code them once exported and then sort by number.
