Remove italics from et al

Hello,

I want to remove italics from "et al." but cannot figure out how to do that.
  • Depends on the citation style. Which are you using?
  • I'm using Nature. I need to follow the style for Nature Communications Biology, where "et al." is not italicized.
  • What do you base that on? I checked in the author guidelines on https://www.nature.com/commsbio/submit/submission-guidelines#references and they have et al. in italics there.
  • I did see that but I noticed all their current publications do not have it italicized. So, I was concerned if I need to change it but I will stick with the guidelines for now. Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.
  • Huh, I see that. I'd honestly submit as is based on their guidelines. If they ask you to remove the italics, its literally one line in the style (just removing <et-al font-style="italic"/> in the Nature style -- the Communications Biology style is just a link to that), but I'd be surprised if it's something they actually want authors to do.
