Zotero Chrome/Firefox Extensions No Longer Work

Hello,

I've been having an issue for the past few days where the Zotero Chrome and Firefox extensions are no longer saving websites to my zotero.org library, and no longer communicating with my desktop app. When I check my preferences, it tells me Zotero is unavailable, but that saving is authorized to Zotero.org.

127.0.0.1:23119/connector/ping does not load.

Beyond that I am also receiving periodic [JavaScript Error: "HTTP request has timed out after 15000ms"] messages in my error logs. I have attempted to reinstall both the desktop app and the Chrome and Firefox extensions. No improvement. I have reinstalled and reset Chrome. No improvement. I have tried disabling my firewalls and other extensions. No improvement.

I've submitted my debug output, ID: D239112338

Please let me know how I may resolve this issue. Thank you for your time.
  • That's a problem on your computer — likely security software or proxy settings — that you'll need to fix. See https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/connector_zotero_unavailable for troubleshooting steps.
  • Hi, thanks for the quick response. I've tried the troubleshooting steps you linked and nothing has improved. I cannot access 127.0.0.1:23119/connector/ping. I cannot access it when my security software is off. I cannot access it after restart. What do you suggest as my next steps?
  • There's nothing we can suggest other than what's on that page. This would be a general networking problem on your computer that you'll need to debug. You may need to ask an IT person to help.

If you provide a Debug ID for Zotero startup using the "Restart with Logging Enabled…" option, we can confirm that Zotero is initializing properly, but that's about it.
  • Done. Debug ID is D867293254
  • (3)(+0000000): HTTP server listening on 127.0.0.1:23119
Yes, that's working fine. So something on your system is interfering with your browser's network connection, and you'll need to go through all the steps on the linked page and ask an IT person for help if necessary. I'm afraid we're not able to provide general Windows troubleshooting here.
