Issue with Society for American Archaeology Format
I have noticed a reoccurring issue with the SAA format on Zotero involving two authors with the same last name that published a text in the same year. I was hoping for some help in fixing it.
For instance, I have two authors with the same last name (they are married) that both published a chapter in the same book. Zotero SAA (unlike Chicago) is not automatically placing the authors' initials in front of the last names to distinguish them. Also, despite the variation in first names, Zotero is tacking on an "a" and "b" after the publication year.
To demonstrate, the in-text citation and works cited look like this:
(Topic 1991a, 1991b; Topic and Topic 2009)
Topic, John R.
1991a Huari and Huamachuco. In Huari Administrative Structure: Prehistoric Monumental Architecture and State Government, edited by William Harris Isbell and Gordon Francis McEwan, pp. 141–164. Dumbarton Oaks, Washington, D.C.
Topic, Theresa Lange
1991b The Middle Horizon in Northern Peru. In Huari Administrative Structure: Prehistoric Monumental Architecture and State Government, edited by William Harris Isbell and Gordon Francis McEwan, pp. 233–246. Dumbarton Oaks, Washington, D.C.
Topic, Theresa Lange, and John R. Topic
2009 Variation in the Practice of Prehispanic Warfare on the North Coast of Peru. In Warfare in Cultural Context: Practice, Agency, and the Archaeology of Violence, edited by Axel E. Nielsen and William H. Walker, pp. 17–55. University of Arizona Press, Tucson, Arizona.
They should look like this:
(J. R. Topic 1991; Topic and Topic 2009; T. L. Topic 1991)
Topic, John R.
1991 Huari and Huamachuco. In Huari Administrative Structure: Prehistoric Monumental Architecture and State Government, edited by William Harris Isbell and Gordon Francis McEwan, pp. 141–164. Dumbarton Oaks, Washington, D.C.
Topic, Theresa Lange

Thanks in advance for your help!

(J. Smith 1982; N. Smith 1982) or J. Smith (1982) and N. Smith (1982)
Note: When two authors with the same surname and the same year published are cited,
the first initial of each author is added to prevent ambiguity.
