If more than 6, only 1; but if less than 6, 3 then 1 et al.
I need to figure out the code to make this possible:
I need the code for: "When a work has 6 or more, only the name of the first author should be cited followed by “et al.” for the first and subsequent citations.
Within the context of: "When a work has at least 3 authors but fewer than 6, all authors’ names should be given at the first citation in the text; thereafter, only the first author’s name is given, followed by “et al.”" (which I have found).
Has to be in APA format. Has to have condition for same author/same year (I have this code).

bwiernikThat is APA 6th edition. Note that this changed in APA 7th edition (now et al is used immediately for 3+ authors). If the requirements just say “APA Style”, I recommend using the current 7th edition style (you can point out that “et al” rules changed between editions—7th edition has been out for two years now). If the requirements insist on these older rules, use APA 6th edition.
