Numeric inline citations underlined
Hi all,
I'm having a problem where numeric citations are sometimes underlined in libreoffice (see screenshot at https://naloxonestudy.org/resources/citation.png).
I see other posts suggesting that this might be related to out of date citations, but this problem appears for me when the citation has just been inserted and does not change even if citations are refreshed. The problem occurs just as often in new documents with just a few lines of text and one or two cites as it does in large documents with hundreds of cites. If I insert another citation earlier in the document and refresh, the underlined citations update (ie change their number), so I know it's not a broken link problem, but the underlining remains. The problem is not consistent - sometimes a new citation does not have underlining, sometimes it does, and I can see no particular pattern.
I can select the citation and manually remove the underline formatting, but for larger documents this gets tedious rapidly.
Any suggestions most welcome.
This is Zotero 5.0.96.2 on ubuntu 20.04 with Libreoffice 6.4.7.2.
Pete

adamsmithThe underlining for non-updating is dashed, so this looks different, though hard to see with the small numbers. What happens when you switch to a different style, e.g. an author-date style (e.g. APA) or a full-size number in parentheses (e.g. Vancouver)
-
caitiftyI tried switching to both an author-date style and Vancouver but same thing. Here's a screenshot with Vancouver and then switched back to the AJPH style I actually need (superscripted small numbers) https://naloxonestudy.org/resources/citation2.png

dstillmanI don't think we've ever seen this before. If possible, try upgrading to LibreOffice 7.1.
-
caitiftyThanks for the suggestion, just upgraded (I was also starting to wonder if this might be a Libreoffice issue rather than a Zotero issue). Underlined cites in an existing document are still present, but I'll see what happens with new cites and/or cites in a new document over the next couple of days and report back.

caitiftyWell, still a mystery. Upgrading libreoffice to the current stable (7.0.5.2) didn't change anything. Intriguingly, earlier today I copied a chunk of text with a citation from an old document and pasted it into a current document. When first pasted, the citation number was not underlined, but when I refreshed the document the citation number promptly 'gained' underlining. The citation number itself changed correctly (and the full citation was added to the bibliography). I'm baffled..

dstillmanYou should try 7.1. That's the current stable version for non-enterprise users.
-
caitiftyStill having this problem nearly a year later, Libreoffice 7.2.5.2, Zotero 5.0.96.3, for what it's worth..
-
caitiftyAnd still having the problem over 2 years later, now Libreoffice 7.5.7.1, Zotero 6.0.27, Ubuntu 22.04.

adomasvenSince you are the only user reporting this it is most likely something in your configuration. You could try resetting your LibreOffice profile https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile
