Does not insert formatted citations.

Whether I start a new document or open an older one and then try to insert a citation I get this for a citation (example): 1(citation).
There is no formatted citation!
What am I doing wrong?

    That just sounds like you're using a numerical citation style and not inserting a bibliography.

    Click Add Bibliography to see the bibliography or switch to a different citation style (e.g. APA for author-date citations or Chicago (full-note) for full references in footnotes)
