Strange code in place of dash in page numbers

I have tried to include a page range (641-44) in my in text citation, and though it looks fine in the zotero editor, it looks like this in my document: (Cf. Dunaway and McPherson 2016, 641\uc0\u8211{}44).
  • What do you mean by "zotero editor"?

How exactly are you adding a page number?
  • I mean when you input a citation, you can see in the editor how the citation will look. But what I see in the editor is not how it looks in the text. I am adding the page number in the page number field by typing '641-644'. It looks right in the editor, but then looks weird in the text. This is in google docs.
  • are you editing in the editor at all? -- we've seen cases where that breaks things.

@Hattiangadi: Also, to be clear, there’s no editor in the default citation dialog. I assume you're referring to the classic citation dialog? Does this happen if you use the default citation dialog?

I am not editing the citation in the editor. I am just using the function in which you can input a page range. I am not sure whether I am using the classic citation dialog or the default one. I am afraid I don't know how to change from one to the other.
  • This is the default dialog:

    https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_usage#citing

If you're not seeing that, you enabled the classic dialog from the Zotero preferences. Try turning that off and adding a page number from the regular dialog, as explained on that page.
  • Thank you so much for your help. I have disabled the classic dialog in preferences and then tried to add page numbers in the default dialog, but unfortunately, it still doesn't work. Again, the page numbers look fine in the dialog, but when it appears in the text, the dash is replaced with '\uc0\u8211{}'.
  • Is this in Word or LibreOffice? Which citation style are you using and is it set to any locale? Does it happen in a new document where you just insert one citation?
  • It's Google Docs, but I can't reproduce this.

@Hattiangadi, can you provide a Debug ID from Zotero for this happening?
