Flock 2.5 and Zotero beta incompatibility

I am having incompatibility problems with Zotero beta 2.0b6.5 and Flock 2.5.2.

I have installed and re-installed. I get this message: [Java Script Application] There was an error starting Zotero.

I get the yellow warning panel on the lower right hand portion of the browser superimposed over the Zotero icon.

I cannot access Zotero on the Tools dropdown box, but I can go into the Add-ons menu and look about inside. I do not have a problem with the sync password and username.

I am using this on a Mac running Mac OS X 10.5.7 (9J61)

I have no problem running this version of Zotero on Firefox running Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090729 Firefox/3.5.2

I have also posted this question in the Flock Forums. Maybe we can triangulate? Thanks.
  • It's unlikely that this has anything to do with Flock, but we can see.

Follow the steps in the Advanced Instructions section of the Reporting Bugs page and let us know what appears in the Error Console.
  • Dan,

As instructed in the Advanced section:

Error: Permission denied to call method Location.toString

Error: [Exception... "'Unexpected Firefox version: 2.5' when calling method: [nsIModule::registerSelf]" nsresult: "0x8057001e (NS_ERROR_XPC_JS_THREW_STRING)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://flock/content/oobe/utility.js :: detectFlash :: line 22" data: no]
    Source File: chrome://flock/content/oobe/utility.js
    Line: 22

    Error: nsIActiveXSecurityPolicy is undefined
    Source File: file:///Users/E/Library/Application%20Support/Flock/Profiles/z2h7vba0.default/extensions/%7B7016c97b-3532-4753-8d12-a4a352ff36bf%7D/components/nsAxSecurityPolicy.js
    Line: 52

Also, please note that I have the samew configuration of Zotero and Flock on my Mac laptop and have no problem. OK, thanks for your patience.
  • Close Flock, delete compreg.dat and xpti.dat from your Flock profile directory (they're cache files that will be regenerated automatically), restart it, and check the console again.

Sorry, it didn't work. Here is the error report:

    Error: menu is null
    Source File: chrome://zotero/content/overlay.js
    Line: 2233

Also, the compreg and xpti files don't appear to have returned with the reboot. What is with that?
  • Ooops, here are some more errors after I clicked the Zotero icon:

Error: [Exception... "'Unexpected Firefox version: 2.5' when calling method: [nsIModule::registerSelf]" nsresult: "0x8057001e (NS_ERROR_XPC_JS_THREW_STRING)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://flock/content/oobe/utility.js :: detectFlash :: line 22" data: no]

  • Those are not Zotero errors.

It wasn't supposed to fix the problem—it was supposed to give us more information. This line relates to Zotero's addition to the web page context menu, but that menu exists in Flock as well, so I'm not sure why you'd be getting an error there.

Have you tried disabling all other extensions?

They might be regenerated when you close Flock. Don't worry about it.
