APA Style 6th Edition shows too many authors in text citation
I want to cite a paper that has more than 5 authors. So the in text citation should be the first author and then et al.
I put the preferences to APA 6th edition and looked at the style editor and style preview they show up correctly as (Dejonckheere, et al., 2019) and
Dejonckheere, E., Mestdagh, M., Houben, M., Rutten, I., Sels, L., Kuppens, P., & Tuerlinckx, F. (2019). Complex affect dynamics add limited information to the prediction of psychological well-being. Nature Human Behaviour, 3(5), 478–491. https://doi.org/10.1038/s41562-019-0555-0
But when I am in my word document it shows the first 3 authors and then et al ?? (Dejonckheere, Mestdagh, Houben, et al., 2019)
How can i fix this?
Help appreciated i just switched from mendeley and don't want to go back :D

If you have another piece with Dejonckheere and Mestdagh as first authors, APA requires (and Zotero implements) that additional authors are listed before et al. until the author list is unambiguous.
(FWIW, Mendeley uses the same style & processor to generate citation, so that'd look the same way there)
