There was an error starting Zotero

Hi,
I had the following problem when I connect my zotero to my Livedrive (www.livedrive.com or L:\zotero on my computer), which worked perfectly fine before I upgraded the Mozila and Zotero recently. Now it give me the following message:
Report ID: 377543475
[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80520015 (NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED) [mozIStorageConnection.executeSimpleSQL]" nsresult: "0x80520015 (NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/db.js :: anonymous :: line 140" data: no] [QUERY: UPDATE itemAttachments SET storageModTime=NULL WHERE storageModTime<0] [ERROR: unable to open database file]

If I change the directory to the defalt one, then everything is fine and the zotero works perfectly fine. However, I have all my information in the zotero at my Livedrive (L:\zotero - as it is on my computer)

Thank you in advance for any help,
Tatiana
  • could you, please, tell me where exactly could be located the files compreg.dat and xpti.dat ? I could not locate them.
    Thank you
  • http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles

(Googling "firefox profile directory" would find that page.)
  • Thank you I deleted those files. Afterward I opened the firefox, but still I see the yellow trianle on "zotero" - when I press it it tells me "Database upgrade error". What should I do next?
    Thank you
  • Did you also restart your computer? Do you have write access to the network drive?
  • Hi

Yes, I restarted my computer - I still have the yellow triangle across "zotero" sign, and when I press on it, it gives me a message "database upgrade error". I have the right access to the network drive, since it is a livedrive- from www.livedrive.com, and I have a pro account on a livedrive - zotero worked perfectly fine before I updated Mozila and zotero.

    Thank you in advance
  • Well, to verify that you're still getting the same error as above, see the Advanced Instructions on the Reporting Bugs page.

But if you're it still says NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED, it's almost certainly not a problem in Zotero—it means Firefox can't write to the database file. We couldn't tell you why that is, but you should verify that you can create files in your Zotero data directory on the network drive.

You should also make sure you don't have your Zotero database open from another computer.
