Zotero Integration Error on Mac (Big Sur 11.2.3)
Report ID: 536695207
Since updating Big Sur yesterday, I have not been able to add citations to new documents or existing ones that functioned earlier that day. I have restarted Word, Zotero and my Macbook but with no success.
The error message reads "Zotero experienced an error updating your document."

I am having a similar issue with Word for Mac 16.46, Big Sur 11.2.2, M1 MBP.
It happens to me when I attempt "Add/Edit Citation" in the Zotero tab in Word. A pop-up window from Zotero opens that says "Zotero Integration Error". I have updated Zotero, turned off track changes and disable markups, saved the document to a different folder locally (not to OneDrive), tried deleting the bibliography and all the other steps in "Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents".
This is what I do to get the error:
1. Start Zotero,
2. Start Word,
3. Open File or start a new document,
4. Click on Review tab to verify track changes is turned off and to disable showing markups,
5. Click on Zotero tab, and
6. Click on Add/Edit Citation.
Zotero Displays the message in a pop-up window "Zotero Integration Error".
In Word, I noticed that if I go into Word>Preferences and select "Ribbon & Toolbar" that the Zotero tab is absent from the Main Tabs list. Similarly, if I navigate to Insert>Add-ins>My Add-ins... Zotero is absent from my list of add-ins. If I instead select "Get Add-ins..." and search Zotero, no results are displayed.
@lrevie Restart your Mac and try again. Make sure you allow Zotero time to insert the bibliography. It might take a while. It might help if you keep Zotero and Word windows on display while Zotero works. If you still have the problem please start a new thread and detail what you have done and what happened.
@petros32 Big documents can cause problems like that. If you can, break up your document into individual chapter documents and work on them separately then recombine in the end. It might help if you keep Zotero and Word windows on display while Zotero works. If you still have the problem please start a new thread and detail what you have done and what happened.
@phaneuft Restart your Mac and try again. If you still see the issue please submit a Debug ID and create a new thread. The fact that the Zotero tab doesn't show up in various Word preferences is normal. If you cannot reproduce the issue in a new document you will need to follow step 10 of the troubleshooting instructions.
@sadekkessous Do you see this problem in a completely new document or only in existing documents? If it's only in existing documents can you follow the document troubleshooting steps, particularly step 10 to try and isolate the problematic part of the document?
