Vancouver: citation style syntax error

While re-reading a bibliography generated from the vancouver citation style, I noticed that a small error had crept into the format. A dot is missing after the date for books and other monographs. Is it possible for the developers to correct this punctuation error?

As a reminder, excerpt from the Vancouver Convention (unless I am not referring to the right one): https://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/eppp-archive/100/201/300/cdn_medical_association/publications-f/mwc/uniform.htm#refs

Books and other monographs
[Note: The previous version of the Vancouver style erroneously included a comma instead of a semicolon between the publisher and the date].

  • Which style are you talking about specifically? We have 2 dozen Vancouver styles: https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=vancouver

The vancouver.csl style is based on the guidelines here: https://www.nlm.nih.gov/bsd/uniform_requirements.html
  • I usually use the Vancouver (2016/06/19) but I just made a new try with the Vancouver (French - Canada) (2016/03/10)
And this is what I get whether it is from references stored in My Library or Group Libraries

I don't understand where the error comes from since the models for the two Vancouver locations cited above use the dot after the publication date.

  • So we're talking about the 2. reference, right? What item type is that and are you seeing the same with the standard Vancouver style?
  • Yes indeed, the reference 2 which signals the report. For me, the Vancouver style (2016/06/19) is the standard style I have always used. But all formats, even English, cause the same error.
What is strange is that I had not spotted this error in my previous bibliographies.
  • OK, we'll take a look. I imagine part of the problem is the "Pages" field in reports, which is awkward in Zotero. It should be # of pages, but is actually mapped like a page range for citation styles, with odd effects. Might work to just put
number-of-pages: 140 into the extra field and delete it from Pages.
  • After a new period of experimentation, I'm back to rephrase my request for a correction to the Vancouver citation style more precisely.
That the document type "Report" offers a range of pages doesn't seem to be the problem. However, a dot at the end of the citation is missing as a field separator between the date and the pagination.
This may seem like a detail, but as I already encourage my colleagues researchers to use Zotero, I cannot ask them to correct their references after the creation of the bibliography, which is mainly composed of reports.
Do I have to modify the Vancouver template on all their workstations or can I count on an update from you soon?
In any case, thank you for your commitment.

By the way, I just read your post: Zotero PDF reader and new note editor.
Bravo. I look forward to sharing the features with my researchers.
I wish you all the best with your work.
