Problems with updating citations
Report ID 123994779: I have a large Word document (550 pages), that I've created in sections, using Zotero for citations and bibliographies that I've added after each section. I pasted all the sections together to aid final editing. I had problems adding new citations via the quick citation dialogue box. It turned entirely red and eventually told me that it was taking a long time to update citations. After a while the new citation did appear but not always. I think I cured that by unlinking all the old citations. I can now add a new citation but a dotted line appears underneath the citation in the text. I wonder whether you could suggest a better way of handling such a long piece of work. Zotero has previously been a great aid in writing whatever I've published before. I've never published anything of book length before.

petros32The new citations with dotted underlining don't appear to add themselves to any of the bibliography sections (or create a new bibliography).

petros32The last comment isn't true, but it takes a long time to create a new bibliographical section. Document just too big?

adamsmithIf you work in a long document, then the recommendation would indeed be to work without a bibliography if possible and to have automatic updating of references turned off (that produces the underlining until they are updated). You can then use refresh to update all references.

petros32Thank you very much. That's helpful
