Why is there no easy way to see Group URL (right-click, settings "anything"

Why does it take forever to find a public group URL and why does it change from \group name to \3534334\group name.

I can think of 37 ways to make this better.

Any help is appreciated.

You can double-click on a group in Zotero to open it online.

The number is there so that the URL keeps working even if you change the group name. This is standard practice on sites where entity names can change.
  • OK sorry, I'm new (and frustrated, over an hour to get it working on MS word), but don't think that's in the documentation and why not put it in the place where you make it public or private (which I can't find again). Why not just right-click on a collection or group to access their properties (99% of other programs do that). There are just a few simple changes that would make it so much better and I assume small changes to the UI are much simpler than many of the things you do such as trying to find order and structure in countless versions of web pages.
  • Generally speaking, the answer to "why is something seemingly obvious to me not implemented" is that it's one of literally thousands of things on our to-do list, and everyone has different things they think are important. This isn't something that anyone really asks about — I can't recall anyone asking about this in the last decade, though it's possible it's been mentioned once or twice.

Zotero obviously has lots of options in its context menus (and your tone here is still really not appropriate). Opening the group online just doesn't happen to be one of them. Most people using the app don't need to open it online, and going to zotero.org and clicking Groups at the top is not complicated.

That's not in the desktop app either. All group management happens online.

I've created an issue to track this, but it's far from a priority.
