Hi,
why it takes a lot of time to drag a file from any drive on my laptop to Zotero?

    How many items are in your Zotero library, and what's the size of zotero.sqlite in your Zotero data directory?

    A couple issues here:

    1) It looks like you have your Zotero data directory on an external drive. While that's OK, assuming that drive is a HDD it's likely to be a lot slower than an SSD. If, for example, your internal drive is an SSD, that would be much faster. Though it's taking a lot longer than I would expect it to even on a HDD, unless you have a very large database or a very slow disk.

    2) An attempt to retrieve metadata for that PDF failed for you, though it works for me. Does that fail for you every time?

    1) yes, it is a HDD drive,
    2) retrieving data, about 50 % of time it works!

    Depends what exactly you mean by that. Not all PDFs can be recognized, but if the network request actually fails, as is happening here, that would be due to a problem with your internet connection.
