Group Library

I want start a group library with over 7000 items, many with attachments:

1. What the best way to transfer my existing library to the group minus personal sub-collections?
2. I do not want to sync regularly with my library which contains personal and professional items. Willing to do it once to get it there, but will delete personal sub-collections (e.g., health, investing, and others) from the group library. Does this change which is the best way?
3. How can a group library be updated?
  • You can transfer collections or items to group libraries just by dragging them.

Libraries are separate. Once you copy items, they're separate items. The links are tracked behind the scenes, and a future version of Zotero may provide ways to transfer item updates between libraries, but for now they're totally separate. If you want to copy new versions of collections or items, you have to delete them in the target library, empty the trash, and drag again.
  • dstillman thank you for the feedback. When you say drag, does that mean the library must be on the web and not the PC? To get a library to the web are there different ways?

No. Not sure why you think that. Unless otherwise specified, anything we say here, and anything in the hundreds of pages of documentation on this site, is going to be referring to the Zotero program, not the website. You want to be using the program for any significant work.

You create groups online, and then when you sync they appear in Zotero locally.
