Moving from Mendeley to Zotero while keeping the files

Hello,

I have an issue when moving from Mendeley to Zotero on MacOS, using the procedure described here: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/mendeley_import

I chose the last option, as I use Mendeley 1.19.8 : I synchronized everything including files with Mendeley servers, then I downgraded to v1.18. But when I open 1.18, links to the files are lost (although they are still present on my disk).

I can import the library into Zotero, but of course the files are not imported.

Do you have an idea how I could solve that?

Thx!
  • Not really, I'm afraid. Mendeley has a history of losing file links extremely easily.

The one thing I do know is that you have to make sure you've actually uploaded all your files to the Mendeley servers from the newer version. Zotero syncing works differently (and much more reliably), where file paths are synced even if you don't upload files, but that's not the case with Mendeley.
  • Thanks for the answer, even if it doesn't help much ! ;-)

The problem is that the "edit settings" menu in Mendeley v1.18 is deprecated, and it is not possible to download all the files from Mendeley servers at once. And downloading all the 3700 files manually, one by one, is something I would like to avoid!
