How to use an existed profile

I would like to copy the zotero installation folder and profile files to a new computer, I know the old profile files locate C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Zotero\Zotero\Profiles\, and I copied these files to the new one, how to use them?

Using d:\zotero\zotero.exe -p will creat a new profile.
  • Don't copy the installation folder. Just install Zotero on the new computer.

The most important thing to copy is your Zotero data directory.

The profile doesn't particularly matter, and we don't generally recommend bothering copying it, but if you copy the whole Profiles folder, with profile.ini, you'll get your settings on the other computer.

  • thanks @dstillman , I have copied the Zotero data directory.

and set the directories and install the add-ons is tedious, are there any shortcuts for these?
  • Well, again, you can copy the profile. You just want to copy the whole thing, including profiles.ini.
  • Note, though, that not all settings will necessarily be correct on the new computer — e.g., file paths might need to be different. That's part of the reason we don't generally recommend copying the profile.
  • ok, I will try it. Many thanks.
