The same issue was happening to me. The way I solve it was to make a copy of the google doc file and started working there.

Could you submit a Report ID from the Zotero Connector and provide full steps on what you're doing and what goes wrong?

Same error happens in different PCs

1)Open the file which I am updating the references.
2) click where I want the zotero link to be
3) Click on the Zotero tab
4) Add/edit citations
5)input the name/link of the references I want (as they are in my library)
6) press enter

7) zotero output the unliked numbers (AMA config.)
