Sending Paper To Advisor

Hello!

I am typing my paper on Word using Zotero. When I send my paper to my advisor and receive it back, my citations are still there and my bibliography is still there, but they are no longer synced together. (For example, if I click on a citation, it is just text, it is no longer connect to Zotero to edit). I am wondering if there is a setting I can change to fix this.

Thank you!
Melinda
  • This would happen if your advisor is opening the document in an unsupported word processor. For example, if you are writing in Word, and they edit it in Google Docs or Apple Pages, this would strip out any Word fields (which Zotero uses to connect).

Check we your advisor about how they are editing the file, and we can give you some suggestions.
  • I have been insisting that my students send me their report drafts in pdf. I add comments to the pdf files and return the pdf to the student. Everybody has a record of everything and the student keeps the original document with Zotero fields intact.

If there a better way to do this I'd like to know.
