sorting reference list in alphabetical order

Hi,
I have an issue with sorting the references in alphabetical order in the reference list. I used Acta Geotechnica style.
I've added all my citations to my library and added them one by one in Word as I write my article and then I created a bibliography at the bottom of my .doc. I thought that my bibliography would automatically be sorted by alphabetical order (by author's name) but the citations are added in the order they appear in my article.
Can you help me to sort references in alphabetical order?

That journal follows Springer’s “Basic Numeric” style, which uses numeric citations and sorts the bibliography by order of appearance. If you are submitting to that journal, I suggest you leave the bibliography as is.

Thank you so much. I used the alphabetical version and the references are in the right order now but the numbers given to each reference in the reference list are still in the order that they appeared in my article, not alphabetical order. what should I do to fix this?

Sorting alphabetically in the bibliography. Numbers generated there used for in-text citations. So the first citation in text could be 51 as that corresponds to the author Alquist.

(Don't think we have such a Springer variant)

Hmm. That’s weird and shouldn’t be possible.

Does it persist if you change to a different style and back? What about in a new document?

If changing citation style and back doesn't work, I'd also try deleting and re-inserting the bibliography.

every time I change the style something new happens. For example, in the bibliography, I have several separate publications but Zotero gave them the same number.
I will delete and re-insert the bibliography.
