How do I modify the profile directory?

I want to modify the default profile directory which is ~/.zotero to other directory.
I tried to modify many times, but failed. Where should I modify the code?

This is functionality we inherit from Mozilla, so you can pass the same command-line flag:

Thanks for replying! After I change the profile folder, it will create an empty folder named .zotero in homedir when I launch zotero. Is there any way to stop it from creating this empty folder?

No idea — but again, whatever Firefox (as of Firefox 60) does, Zotero will do too.
