links not working

I recently changed to a new computer. Before this, within zotero if i clicked on a url or on the title of anything that had been saved from the web, the reference automatically opened in Firefox. Now this does not work for me or for other people using our shared library. It won't work either in the standalone version or if i open the library through the web. Any suggestions?

What do you mean by "this does not work"? What happens?

What do you mean by "if i clicked on a url"? What exactly on your screen are you clicking?

What do you mean by "or on the title of anything"? The title where? A single click or a double-click?

See here for the kind of description we need:

  • If i am in zotero and I have a webpage reference open, normally if I click on either the title of the webpage or the url in the right-hand details window, the relevant webpage will open in firefox. Now the link is no longer 'live'. If i click on it, nothing happens and i have to manually copy and paste the link into my browser if i want to open the webpage.

The same thing applies to the bibliography in my word documents. Normally a url in a reference (like this https://www.agriculture.gov.au/fisheries/international/cooperation/png) appears like and acts as a hyperlink: now it is just in normal text and has to manually copied; clicking on it does nothing.

As this is a new computer, I only downloaded a new version of zotero two days ago. I am running the latest version of Mozilla Firefox and a newly downloaded zotero connector. My colleague with whom i am sharing the library has an apple mac and is having the same issue now.
  • Can you take a screenshot or screen recording, upload it somewhere (e.g., Dropbox), and provide a link here?

The things you're describing don't really correspond with how Zotero works normally, so without the sort of step-by-step description requested on the linked page, we're going to need to see exactly what you're referring to.

As for this, this isn't something that's ever been made possible by Zotero.

Word has an AutoFormat option that should be able to convert URLs to hyperlinks, though.
