Connector on Chrome not saving downloaded pdfs

I have multiple articles from my library that come to me in pdf's that I want to be able use the Zotero connector to add to my Zotero library once I've downloaded them. It used to work for me in the past but no longer works. It isn't working on Firefox or Edge either. The Zotero icon is grayed out. I ensured I have the updated version of Zotero.

Please advise.

    If you've already downloaded the PDF to your computer, you need to just drag it to Zotero from your file manager, or use Store Copy of File from the New Item menu in the Zotero toolbar. You can't save to Zotero while viewing a downloaded PDF in your browser — browsers don't allow that.

    You can, however, save a PDF that you're viewing online (at an http(s) URL) directly to Zotero. Make sure your browser is set to view PDFs in the browser rather than downloading them. (Sometimes sites force downloading and you'll need to add them via drag and drop or Store Copy of File, though.)

    Whenever possible, you should save from an article page instead of trying to add a PDF directly.
