ASA style

Hi,

I'm using ASA style for my thesis. When I try generating a bibliography from Zotero, DOI's and hyperlinks are not included. I went to the "citation options" and made sure the box for "include URLs of paper articles in references" was ticked off. I still didn't get any DOI's and links. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

The American Sociological Association style is set to only include the URL for webpages and blog posts and to never include the DOI. That was correct per the style guide when the style was written. Has the style guide changed?

I have the style guide (6 ed.) from 2019 on Kindle, and my impression is that the DOI and URL should be included:

"Articles and books obtained from the internet follow the same patterns as those cited above, with the exception that page numbers are omitted and the URL and date of access (if necessary) are included."

An example from the guide:

Pfeiffer, and Ali Syed. 2008. “How Sociological Leaders Teach: Some Key Principles.” Teaching Sociology 36(2):108–24. doi:10.1177/0092055X0803600202.

So would I have to add the DOI manually?

That's great to hear - thanks so much! May I just ask: How long does it usually take to do this kind of update? Just trying to figure out whether I need to add the DOI's and URL's manually on this occasion, as I appreciate that those of you doing the update probably are busy people :)

The fixing is easy (1 line of code), but it's a matter of is it correct or not in line with the citation guidelines, especially for a widely-used style such as ASA.

I just tried adding the edited style, but I still get no URLs in my bibliography (I use ASA in Danish):

BBC News. 2019a. “Hong Kong: Face Mask Ban Prompts Thousands to Protest”. BBC News, oktober 4.

BBC News. 2019b. “Hong Kong Polytechnic University: Protesters Still inside as Standoff Continues”. BBC News, november 19.

Can you provide the code that I need to edit in the style, and where to add it?
