Style Request: Molecular Pharmaceutics

Currently, when I build my bibliography using the current Molecular Pharmaceutics style, the following format appears:
Burchat, Andrew F.; Chong, J. Michael; Nielsen, Nathan. J. Organomet. Chem. 1997, 542, 281-283.

However, I want the citation to include the title of the article such that the following appears:
Burchat, Andrew F.; Chong, J. Michael; Nielsen, Nathan. Titration of Alkyllithiums with a Simple Reagent to a Blue Endpoint. J. Organomet. Chem. 1997, 542, 281-283.

The existing formatting (bolding of the year and italics of the journal title and volume) are corrent. The only change that needs to be made is addition of the title. Can someone make the necessary code changes? I wish I knew how to do it myself. Thanks for the help.
  • Could you clarify if that is the official style or just something you want to use?
    Can you provide a link?
The current style is just the American Chemical Society Style
  • Hi. Molecular Pharmaceutics is one of the many journals that falls under the American Chemical Society (ACS) style. The requested style is one of the two official styles accepted by ACS and is the preferred style: "Article titles are not essential in reference citations, but they are considered desirable to highlight the contents of a paper and facilitate location in reference libraries."
    http://pubs.acs.org/userimages/ContentEditor/1246030496632/chapter14.pdf

Most of the articles I download from Molecular Pharmaceutics (more than 90%) use the citation style that includes the article title.

    Thanks for your help.
  • Thank you for this very helpful information.
I will create an ACS style with titles and would suggest to upload it as such to the repository, so that (e.g.) Molec. Pharm. remains a dependent style.

Use the raw link at the top right with right-click and save as.
Then drag the file to FF and OK the install.
Let me know if you encounter any problems.

Others: How should we proceed with this - seem to make sense to have 2 alternate ACS styles on the page, right? Are there any naming conventions for this?
  • Sorry to trouble you again, but I can't seem to get the installation to work. I right clicked the link and saved the file to my desktop. Then I dragged the file into Firefox. I am taken to a GIST page with the code at the bottom and two buttons at the top of the page: download and fork. Clicking the download button brings up the option to save a .tar.gz file. Your advice is appreciated.
  • go to the page linked to above - that's the one you opened (you can just click on the link above)
On _that_ page, on the top _right_ there is a much smaller link that says "raw"
right-click on that, save, drage to FF.
  • It works perfectly. Thanks again.

The first page of the linked-to PDF suggests there may be even more than two ACS variants. For now I'd suggest keeping the current ACS style as is (ID is "american-chemical-society"), use "american-chemical-society-with-titles" as ID for this new style, and "American Chemical Society with titles" as title.
  • done - could someone check if I did that right - first time using SVN...
