some references show up with DOI and some doesn't

Hello

When I insert my references they show up like this:

Reference 3 has no DOI, even though the DOI is annotated in my Zotero library. I have tried refreshing or changing styles back and forth and the error persists. What am I doing wrong?

Best,
Diogo

  • Which style is that?
It looks like the style only prints DOIs for items without volume number (which would typically be online only articles). That's a common requirement in styles but it's also possible we have this wrong. DOI requirement of any given style change at times.
  • I have used the Nature style for the example. Volume is indeed not present in the library, thanks!

However, I assumed all available data would be automatically added by Zotero if I add the article DOIs through the magical wand (as informed by a peer). Maybe something went wrong in this part?
  • It’s possible that the item didn’t have a final volume/issue number assigned at the time you downloaded the paper, or perhaps the publisher hasn’t yet updated the record in CrossRef to include the volume number.
