Trouble when using OneDrive

We are a group of people working on a document saved in OneDrive. The other don't seem to have trouble linking to Zotero. But when I try to insert a reference from our shared library, I get the message: "Zotero experiences an error updating your document". If I save the file locally on my computer Zotero works just fine. But then the whole point of sharing a document on OneDrive is gone.
Can anyone help me solve this?

    Try renaming the file to a filename that includes only 0-9, A-Z, a-z, or - _ ~ .
