Journal reference style differs from the one undated by Mendeley

Hi,

I have come across a challenge that is quite complex and hope you can help.

We are preparing an article for the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, which has a reference style for it. I use Mendeley reference manager and the references are styled differently than described in the "Instructions for authors" section. I contacted Mendeley for this, but they turned me down, saying that they get data from Zotero and I should contact it directly. Can you please help? I have invested a lot of time and effort in this and wish to use the great possibility to have all my references beautifully formatted. I will post my original message to Mendeley and Its response below.

Regards,
Lāsma

My message (17 July, 2020):
Hi, I reached out to you on 15. july, 2020. Havent heard back, so am trying one more time since this is quite urgent: Dear Mendeley, I am now facing a different issue – it looks to me that the journal reference specifications differ from the template in Mendeley system. I on the behalf of my team am preparing an article for submission in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. The authors specifications can be seen in the attachement. However, the bibliography made by Mendeley looks different. Any suggestions? This is what it should look like: Bobbio, A.; Manganelli, A.M. Antecedents of hospital nurses’ intention to leave the organization: A cross sectional survey. Int. J. Nurs. Stud. 2015, 52, 1180–1192. (Author 1, A.B.; Author 2, C.D. Title of the article. Abbreviated Journal Name Year, Volume, page range.) But mine turns out like this: Zapf, D. Emotion work and psychological well-being. A review of the literature and some conceptual considerations. Hum. Resour. Manag. Rev. 2002, 12, 237–268, doi:10.1016/S1053-4822(02)00048-7.

Mendeley response:
Dear Lasma,
Thank you for contacting Mendeley.
This actually depends on the citation style and how they were designed to write texts. However, please note that Mendeley does not create or edit citation styles and that we only get them from a repository we share with Zotero. Hence, we have limited assistance to offer since we have not received training to handle such queries.
As your customer service rep, I strongly suggest that you get in touch with Github/Zotero to report about this and get an updated citation style that meets the requirement.
Thank you and I hope this has been helpful. Have a lovely weekend ahead!
  • I'm not quite sure I understand what's wrong with the citation style? Except for the DOI, these look identical to me.
