name and date in square brackets

Hi, my department style guide requires the use of name and date in square brackets, e.g., Adam and Smith [1979] or [Adam and Smith, 1979] -- any hints on what citation style might achieve that? Maybe only by modifying an author-year style to replace parentheses for brackets? Thanks!
  • thank you, I've found a near perfect match: the "First Break" citation style.

but I forgot to mention an oddity of my dept.: only the in-text citation should use square brackets, the bibliographic item should use round parentheses.

so I just wanted to confirm if this is not something configurable from within Zotero or its Word plugin -- I assume I'll have modify a CSL file?
  • Exactly.
